Currently, we support two preschools in Esteli, they are:
The preschools are supervised by the Ministry of Education, which monitors the pre-schools in liaison with the departmental office of the Ministry for the Family. Tuition is provided in line with the Ministry of Education's national curriculum.
Children in the Sinai preschool receive breakfast, lunch and a
morning and afternoon snack. Care is taken to ensure a balanced diet,
with sufficient protein
and fresh vegetables and fruit. The centers has a playgrounds
equipped with swings, a slide, see-saws and other play equipment
made by the cooperative´s mechanical workshop. Supporters have
donated a
variety of toys and games.
In
Estrellitas #2 we are helping the community build a
new preschool bit by bit. Currently the children receive class a couple
of hours a day. They get a nutritious snack each day prtovided now by
the Ministry of Education. We facilitate extra support which we receive
from donors like Laura
Wilson and her colleagues of Evanston Church, Illinois.
The
centers provide care for the
children of low income families from local barrios, many headed by
single
mothers who work in the tobacco industry or in domestic service.
