Volunteer Maura Mathieu from Boston spent three weeks this August teaching English to the children of the Sinai preschool in the Nuevo Amanecer barrio in the western area of the city of Esteli.
For preschool educators Carmen Montenegro and Edelma Acuña, the classes were especially useful because they reinforced an earlier visit in 2012 by Kate Toll from New Hampshire who put a lot of work into developing and providing English language teaching materials for the preschool. The children have benefited a lot from Kate's work on those teaching materials.
Now thanks to Maura's hard work over the last three weeks and her exceptional teaching ability, Carmen, Edelma and their preschool children have a solid base on which to continue building their English language skills.
