Since 2003 Superemos has offered students classes in computer skills using free software based on the GNU Linux operating system. Currently the programme is funded by the social projects fund of the Albanisa company. The programme serves over 20 students with weekly classes taught by Milagro Silva. Computer skills are an essential prerequisite for almost all office employment now in Nicaragua. Milagro teaches word processing and spreadsheet skills as well as enabling the students to make efficent and secure use of the Internet. Thanks to her own experience in financial administration, Milagro places emphasis when teaching spreadsheet skills on concepts of basic book keeping and cash management.
