This year's medical brigade was one of the most successful Superemos has ever hosted involving multiple associated activities consisting of:
- delivering care from 18 medical professionals to 20 rural communities in coordination with the local health posts maintained by Nicragua's Ministry of Health, preventive health education is an important part of the brigade's work covering dental hygiene, psychological weell bring, screening for domestic violence and guidance on reproductive health
- educational exchanges between highly experienced family medicine practitioners from the Boston area, Dr. Kirsten Meisinger and Dr. Rachel Vogel, and over 60 local volunteer health promoters in the municipalities of Pueblo Nuevo, Condega and Estelí
- partnering pediatric intensive care specialist Dr. Dennis Simon and hematology oncology specialists Dr. Marisol Betensky and Dr. Ryan Lynch with their respective counterparts in Estelí's regional hospital
- imparting educational talks from visiting US medical professionals to students in the medical school of Nicaragua's National Autonomous University's Regional Multidisciplinary Faculty (FAREM-UNAN) in Estelí
- participation in the medical brigade's rural community visits by medical students from the FAREM_UNAN
- participation in the medical brigade's work in rural communities by staff from Boston University's School of Social Work with a group led by Dr. Luz López
- training activities on domestic violence for local social work, psychology and nursing professionals led by Dr. Len Greenberg and Dr Lyn Styczinski
- participation in the medical brigade's visits to rural areas by Swedish optometrist Dr. John Godoy providing eyeglasses to patients
