2012 was a very busy year for the programs and projects supported by Superemos.
Training to prevent domestic violence

Medical delegation from Boston
| This year's medical delegation coordinated by Dr. Peter Loewinthan and his colleagues at Dorchester House Multi Service Center in Boston included a dental team, as well as pediatricians, and adult providers specializing in internal medicine and family medicine. The delegation delivered care to over 1700 children and over 1400 adults in urban barrios and rural communities throughout the municipality of Estelí. |
Graduation for training course in baking skills
In February, representatives of the Casa Canadiense presented diplomas to participants in the baking course given by the "Christine King" cooperative with funding from the Casa Canadiense.

Nicaraguan TV films Sones Segovianos music education project
In February the Canal 6 TV channel visited the Sones Segovianos music education project to film part of a programme about music education in Nicaragua. Here their cameraman is filming Sones Segovianos student Tamara who is developing into a very talented marimba player.

A new kiln for the ceramic workshop
|
In January 2013 we built a new kiln to be able to make more efficient the wood-burning system used in the ceramic workshop. This will also enable us to use the space where the old kiln was sited so as make more space available for the women's aid program which has been become cramped for space as more people have made use of that facility. |
Music concert 2012

The music education programme "Sones Segovianos" directed by Hannah Curteis held its end of year concert together with other music education initiatives including the program Superemos funds in Palacagüina about 80 Km north of Estelí and too the local Los Angelitos music education programme. |
Purisima 2012
Every December, Superemos always honours the local religious tradition of the celebration of the Immaculate Conception, known in Nicaragua as the Purísima. This year, the celebration was attended by about 120 people of all ages.

In November, we had a visit from our dear friend Hope Little from Chicago. Hope spent two days with us enjoying the music education program and observing part of the secondary education and skills training programs. |
