Members of the Christine King Multi Service Cooperative have been able to strengthen the bakery training programme that is part of the general skills training programme facilitated by Superemos. The cooperative is now working with a total of 16 students who will learn a variety of baking skills over the next six months. |

As part of the follow up to the medical brigade from the Dorchester House Multi Service Centre of Boston Superemos purchased several wheel chairs for patients with disability who were seen by members of the brigade. One of those patients was Erick Josue Benavides from the community of Santa Cruz, south of Estelí. |
The start of 2011 for Superemos was marked by concerted efforts to recover from the flooding of September 2010 so as to return to normal working before the start of the school year here in Nicaragua. Thanks to the kindness of our supporters and the hard work of everyone working on our various community projects we had the site ready in good time to receive students at the start of the 2011 academic calendar.
Jean Kelley, Emily Feinberg and Ryan Lynch, apart from working hard all day giving clinics during their visit to Nicaragua, also spent time one evening to impart a workshop on preventive health with the women of the Estelí Women's School. Here Jean answers a question from one of the women students, many of whom are single mothers working hard to give their family a better life.

This year Dr. Peter Loewinthan brought down a much larger medical delegation from the Dorchester House Multi Service Center than in previous years. A total of 11 doctors, two nurse practitioners and two nursing assistants visited over three weeks, seeing around 1000 children and about 1200 adults. The group also held workshops to exchange experiences with local health workers in various municipalities of the department of Estelí.

During January everyone in the projects has been hard at work. The routine activities of the cooperative in its various workshops have continued despite the inevitable disruption caused by remodelling spaces to prepare the site for the rains that will begin in May. |

Thanks to support from various donors we have been able to improve the infrastructire of the Superemos project site prior to the start of the new school year. Welders Wilson Ordoñez and Alberto Lanuza and their assistants are preparing a new structure for the ceramic workshop. |
